Hide and seek with pumpkins
Our pumpkins are coming along nicely this year. The volunteers completely filled our entrance bed with the little plants that they had sown from seed.
On my way into work yesterday I had a bit of a game of hide and seek with them, these are the ones i found. (i'm sure i missed some!)

Volunteers huddle with chocolate biscuits
I loved seeing the morning garden volunteers huddled around the picnic table today, having their chocolate biscuits brought in by Andrew. What a treat. They deserved it.

Welcome Lucy
Welcome to the Growing Gardens Project Lucy!
Lucy started in the gardens about a month ago and has been busy meeting all the volunteers and getting to know the project. Below is a picture of her up at our allotment space on Phipps bridge with two of our volunteers on a lovely sunny day.
A little bit about Lucy...
Growing up in South London, green space was hard to come by! Despite this, I have always absolutely loved being outdoors. I have countless childhood memories of visits to other worldly places (Streatham Common) searching for frogspawn and coming back a few weeks later to greet the tadpoles J As I grew older, I developed a passion for environmental and social issues and began a journey of learning how to engage and work with people in gardening.
Working at community gardens throughout London I soon noticed the therapeutic value of natural spaces and really enjoyed creating friendly community spaces and growing local organic veggies together!
I’m thrilled to have joined Deen City Farm as a community gardener this summer - the gardens are blossoming beautifully as are our wonderful volunteers and I love coming in to work each morning to the sound of the robins singing above the greenhouse.
Favorites...

Meet the gnomes
Our volunteers have been busy getting ready for our harvest festival on the 28th. Meet Mr gnome painted by garden volunteer virginia....
A very serious gnome with the very serious job of being the gnome that everyone will be pinning the hat on! I get a feeling he is going to do a super job. I don't know what he will be like when people miss though!
Meet Andrews gnome and vegetables very lovely drawings i think.
